A Lifemap is a personal digital archive for your most important memories; photos, videos, diaries, and social interactions are stored safely and organized in an intuitive way allowing you to easily relive your favorite moments from your past from anywhere. Always.
Well, it's actually much more than that. If your computer or phone is lost, damaged or stolen, or you decide to change devices or operating systems, and most importantly when you pass away, Lifemap will have your content safely archived. But while you are using Lifemap, you can relive all your favorite memories by viewing slideshows of your life Milestones and Yearbooks of your favorite moments each year, share memories with family, create private diary entries, and import social networking activity to build a comprehensive and usable archive of your life. All of our features have been designed to be private first and for you to choose those tools that would be most useful for you over your whole life.
Yes! To some extent it has the same capabilities as the major social networks; you can connect one-on-one with your family, create groups, and share directly with only those who you have invited to connect with on Lifemap, or you can send an email of a slideshow if they are not a member. Also, sharing content with your Lifemap connections allows them to import the content into their own Lifemap allowing spouses, children (subaccounts), parents, etc. to add to their memories with photos and video captured by others - so it is important to be selective and only invite your closest family and friends. You can even share personal news and thoughts with your Lifemap connections and also push your updates to Facebook and Twitter. There are some other key differences as well: 1) there are no privacy settings to manipulate; Lifemap is private account by default but you can share your content directly with your connections and nobody else will see it. 2) when you upload memories into your Lifemap from your family’s hard drive you can share with your spouse and children and they can then choose to import memories into their Lifemap without having to upload again. 3) most importantly, you own your content and we act as a custodian and will not mine your data or take ownership rights for profit. If you want to close your account, just download the contents and delete your account and there will be no trace left with us.
You don’t get something for nothing. We like to describe our business model as a wholesale storage reseller. Amazon Web Service (AWS) is the largest provider of internet infrastructure in the world and we created the interface that allows you to safely and securely organize and archive your content with AWS S3.
This is the unique value of organizing a permanent Lifemap archive. Your photos, videos, private diary, and social interactions are all first placed on your personalized timeline. You can jump to a specific date like your child’s birth or your wedding day, but you can also zoom in and out to view any date range like a whole summer or your child’s birth date and the first few weeks or months at home. You can also batch tag related photos and videos like albums or themes which allows you to search by tag, title, and location and launch slideshows of anything (people, places, events, etc.) and not be constrained by static albums or unorganized file folders. Once your memories are uploaded, organized in time, and tagged, you can easily sort the best moments of your life into Milestones and the best and favorite moments of each year into Yearbooks. Your memories are now permanently organized and safely stored and at your fingertips to enjoy.
Supposing that you wanted to find all of the content related to your dog or a recurring family tradition. If you tag the photos as you upload them, then just enter "Rover" or “camping” into the search box and your lifetime of related photos, videos, social media and diary entries will be retrieved and displayed. You can then launch a slideshow, share, edit tags, or jump back to that date in your timeline to relive that event – all from the result page with one click.
Tagging your memories with titles, people, places and things is important but it shouldn’t be a burden and so we have created a batch tagging widget to tag multiple photos or an album at time of uploading or directly from your timeline. When building your Lifemap you only have to do it once.
You can also personalize tags around themes like ‘fun’, ‘funny’, ‘fav’ or anything you wish. Some common examples are to use tags to track your children’s growth with photos by tagging ‘growth chart’ or ‘back to school’ and search will display all the photos in chronological order allowing you to play a slideshow of your children growing up over the years. If you are looking to create a slideshow for a birthday party, you can search for the person’s name tag and play a slideshow using your iPad or internet-TV like a digital photo frame. With a Lifemap, you can stop creating file folders on your hard drive for annual and recurring events for each and every year. Tablets have reinvented the family photo album and we are reinventing how to retrieve and enjoy any memory on any device at any time.
Not really, it's anything that you want to upload. You can be creative with this; maybe you want to scan birthday cards, award certificates, children's artwork, newspaper clippings. Remember it's your life that will be chronicled and we want you to have the freedom to build out your Lifemap as you wish. Also you can import and archive your tweets, Facebook photos, wall posts and status updates, Foursquare check-ins and Flikr. Again, all of our features have been created for you to decide what would be most useful for you over your life and to choose what is most important to protect. We hope that as your tastes and interests change over the course of your life, and with that the products and services you use around the web, that we will be able to offer you a place to privately control a copy of your personal content to safeguard against the product shutting down, being acquired or you just no longer find them useful but want a copy of your historical data.
It would be your life story, the way you want it to be told, for your eyes only. And when you set up your account, you can set up an eBeneficiary to preserve your Lifemap for your family.
An eBeneficiary is usually your spouse or an age-appropriate child that you designate and request their approval to receive your Lifemap after you have passed away. Eventually it will happen and unlike the other social networks, we feel that it is your right to protect your legacy and control your emotional assets, and name a person you trust to receive your Lifemap in memoriam. Losing a loved one is a difficult time and creating a Lifemap removes the burden of sorting through boxes of photos and hard drives for decades of memories that help to celebrate their life. The content of your Lifemap may mean more to your loved ones than any material wealth so it is important to protect it. Your eBeneficiary has to sign-up and at the appropriate time they will inherit your Lifemap as a read only account, and they in turn will be able to pass it on to their eBeneficiary, thereby setting into motion your family’s archive. An eBeneficiary is not required and you can change at any time.
We all have different techniques for populating our accounts. At the start it may take some time, but it is a really fun process! The more you have in your Lifemap, the better the experience. We have found that the biggest events and moments of your life are typically captured with the most photos and videos and therefore can be used to start populating your timeline and building your Milestones and Yearbooks right away (weddings, honeymoons, births and holidays). Uploading, tagging and sharing your important digital photos can be the easiest approach because it's fast and the dates are usually captured within the photo's data and automatically placed on your timeline. Once you have done this, you can start to scan printed photos to upload when you have free time – building and curating your Lifemap is not a race and it is a really fun family activity to rediscover special memories together that have been hidden away for too long. After you have filled in your historical content, it is easy to maintain your content moving forward as you can upload directly from our mobile applications. Once you have archived your memories with a Lifemap you can sleep easy knowing you’re organized and protected once and for all.
